Bassam Alghanim is no longer involved in the family holding company. The firm, Alghanim Industries, has a major stake in Gulf Bank of Kuwait. He and his brother Kutayba inherited the group from their father, but have fought over division of the assets. Bassam sued his brother in the U.S., alleging that Kutayba and his son Omar hacked into his email. In October 2011 a U.K. judge found two people liable for hacking into Bassam's email on what looked like orders from Kutayba and his son. In the U.S. a judge has put the case on hold, pending arbitration in Kuwait. Bassam lives in Los Angeles.
